The Pastoral Council coordinates five working Commissions. All parish organizations and activities are included within one of these Commissions. The five Commissions are: Formation, Worship, Parish Life, Outreach, and Administration. Leadership Night is held on the second Monday of each month following the 6pm Mass.
The Formation Commission coordinates all levels of educational programming in the parish, children through adults. The Commission's role is to foster cooperation, coordination, and communication among all groups and individuals involved in the education/formation ministries of the parish.
The Worship Commission oversees the liturgical and devotional prayer life of the parish in collaboration with the Pastor and the Director of Music and/or Liturgy. The Worship commission envisions balanced liturgical and devotional prayer opportunities that reflect the personal and corporate needs of the assembly - liturgies that lead is to live the Gospel message in work and action, not only in our homes, but in our communities and at the global level.
The Parish Life Commission is made up of various organizations in the parish. Its goal is to build a deeper sense of Christian community for all ages and interest groups in the parish.
The Outreach Commission coordinates the ministries of pastoral care, social services, peace and justice, and evangelization. Its scope includes outreach to both the parish membership and the larger community, either in the neighborhood or beyond.
The Administration Commission is responsible for coordinating the temporal afairs of the parish: how money is acquired, how it is spent, how the physical plant is maintained, and how the parishioners are kept informed about what is happening in the parish.
The purpose of the Parish Pastoral Council is to “cousel the pastor” on matters relating to pastoral activities. They “expand and improve the decision-making process of pastoral planning and goal setting: developing and implementing pastoral programs; improving pastoral services; and evaluating pastoral effectiveness.” Two people from each Commission, along with the Pastor, Deacon, and a representative of the parish staff, make up the Pastoral Council. This council meets at 8pm on the second Monday of every other month.
