What does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus Christ?
How does the Catholic Church help people to follow Jesus in everyday life?
Are you or someone you know thinking about joining our faith community…or would you just like to ask some questions?
RCIA is the process to join the Catholic Church, but there are many questions you may have before doing so. This process has several stages to help you answer God's call to a deeper relationship with Christ and his Chruch. The stages are Inquiry, Catechumenate, Purification and Preparation, Initiation and Mystagogy.
Inquiry is an opportunity for anyone interested to ask questions and discover the Catholic faith. "Come and See" sesions are held on Sunday mornings at 9:30 am in the St. Gregory the Great Room. For more information, contact the RCIA team coordinator, Barry Crist.
During the catechumenate, individuals meet with the RCIA team who presents the Faith and then gives the individual time to discuss and ask questions. The RCIA team seeks to form a community of those journeying to the sacraments of initiation, to instruct them in the Scriptures and Church teaching, and to invite them into a life of service.
Through a series of meditations during Lent, the catechumens will strengthen their faith and prepare to commit their lives to Christ and be received into the Church at Easter.
The catechumens are received into the Church during the Easter Vigil Mass and receive the sacraments of initiation: baptism (if not baptized already), confirmation, and the Eucharist.
After full reception into the Church, time is spent reflecting and deepening the understanding of the mysteries of the Mass and the Sacraments.
The Children's Catechumenate is an age-appropriate preparation for children seeking Christian initiation into the Catholic Church. Children's Catechumenate meets during special sessions. Contact the Director of Religious Education.
